Throughout the years that civilization has been created, our society has been flooded with inequality. Women, Slaves, and other minorities have been abused and mistreated. The only way you could be seen as an equal was if you were white or male. Future American generations should be persuaded to accept each other and learn to have open minds to different cultures and races. Equality is one of the main aspects that contributes to the American Dream. I personally am not pursuing the American Dream, but I have a better understanding of what the main aspects are about.
Being able to vote for a representative is part of what makes the people of America, American. Being able to vote is a “high privilege” that women were not able …show more content…
to have(Citizens 3). Something so basic and simple was not granted to the opposite sex just because of how they were perceived in the past. Men had the ability to vote whereas Women didn't always have the right. Many advocated for women to have the same rights as men did, such as Susan B. Anthony(Homeland Security 10). Just as she advocated for equality and civil rights, we must be able to have the same mindset as she did. Imagine a world where being different is embraced instead of shunned. The future generation needs to be capable of not worrying about others but themselves. The only reason we have to be worried about each other, is when it's affecting all of us as a nation. In the past men and women came together to show that a change needs to be made. It was during the inauguration of Woodrow Wilson that people insisted on marching together to make a statement that there is power in numbers. With these numbers, came a positive effect, women were able to get the ability to vote just as men did. With this determination and ability to work together, we can improve our society, so that's what our future generations need to focus on. This proves that some people will work together to achieve equality. I would like the future of America to come together and work as a team to achieve one common goal. Although, there are some ignorant people in this country that only care about themselves (Trump) and don’t want to make a difference in the world, our future generations cannot be like this.
Not all men had the right to vote.
Before they did, african american men were taken advantage of. They were not seen for the character and charisma that they had, instead they were seen as how they could be beneficial to their master. Martin Luther King Jr. had a vision that he wanted all men and women no matter their color to come together and accept each other. Martin Luther King kept his vision of change that he wanted to see in the world, and it worked. He wanted us to “be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood”(King 4). MLK wanted to live in a world where the society would be able to join together and “not be judged by the color of their skin”(King 5). He is a major influencer that emphasizes the importance of equality. Although he was a member of the African American society, many men and women are influenced by him and follow him. I personally like MLK and look up to him. His inspirational speeches allow me to be openhearted and have broadened my horizons. He made me be more optimistic, he proved that even though there are “vicious racists,”(King 5)in the world, we all still have the ability to come together and work as one. I see racist people in this world and I find them ignorant that they don’t even know how it came to be. In the “I Have a Dream”speech, he talks about how african american people went through “trials and tribulations”(King 4), he wants them to know that even though bad things are happening, he still has a dream that equality will reign throughout the country. When the new generations of America take over the world, I would want them to receive the same message that he gave
us.
Just as men and women and slaves, minorities such as people of the LGBT community earned their rights just as they did. Now it is in the constitution that no one should be judged by who they love, so this is why the Marriage Equality act was signed. In the past years, anyone who loved the same sex or was different in the society was considered to be gross and were patronized for who they loved. Now that it is considered wrong to be against LGBT community, I feel that future generation will be more diverse and it won’t be such a big deal. I personally know a few people from the LGBT community in my family and I have no problem with them. I wouldn’t want them to feel uncomfortable just because we love different people. The most important things in life aren’t things. The new generations are so caught up in fitting in and becoming part of the cool kids group. This new generation needs to be informed, because just like us, they can become clouded by their judgement and won’t live life to the fullest.
Future generations need to be open-minded and have an ear open to people from around the world. African American men didn’t have much rights and it was very tragic, there was a lot of chaos and the world was going bad. Women didn’t have the right to vote, and as much as that doesn’t sound as bad, it was humiliating that it was a thought that women weren’t trusted to make the right choice. This new generations will not have these problems, the world has already taken care of it and now all they have to worry about is how they decide to go along with it.
