American Dream.. Where Did You Go?
“I’m still here.. come and find me”
“What is the American dream? The American dream is one big tent. One big tent. And on that big tent you have four basic promises: equal protection under the law, equal opportunity, equal access, and fair share.” - Rev. Jesse Jackson. The American Dream is the idea that if you are focused and work hard enough, you can be successful in America. We find ourselves in a time in our nation’s history where this long believed opportunity of grandeur and promise could be over. I believe it is important to stay positive. As citizens of the United States, we make up the American Dream, and we must remind ourselves every day about that. To find this success you must have a dream, and the will to never give up on that dream. From what I have seen thus far in my existence on this planet is that people have forgotten to follow their dreams. I realize it is sometimes hard to understand what that dream is, but focus and hard work get you what you want.
As Rev. Jesse Jackson reminds us, we are blessed to live in a country with equal opportunity for all of its citizens. No matter your race, gender, or religious background you have the opportunity to reach your ultimate goal. With the advancement of technology the internet has become a great tool help us. Legally registering a company, obtaining a tax ID number, and creating a strong marketing scheme to create your brand can all be done with a few calculated clicks of a mouse. Entrepreneurship is almost a lost art. With these big corporations all around us they make it easier to fill out an application, and work for someone else. Finding success in the American Dream takes drive and the willingness to be be your own boss. To many this sounds like a great idea, but the creativity of individuality could be lacking.
