The passages I will be using are, “Texas v Johnson” by William J. brennan, “ In What, of This Goldfish Would You Wish ” by Etgar Keret, and lastly “ American Flag Stands for Tolerance” by Ronald J. Allen. Barbara Johnson’s quote “we as human beings, must be willing to accept people who are different from ourselves ties into these passages. Us humans should accept Johnson in “ Texas v Johnson” even though his expressions differ from one another. On pages 1 and 2 of page 1, stated “ We decline therefore, to create for the flag an exception to the joust of principles protected by the 1st amendment.” On the next page, line 39 stated, “ The way to preserve the flags special role is not to punish those who feel differently about these matters.” This evidence helped decide the rational decision to not punish Johnson. It relates to the quote because it’s saying he has a right in the 1st amendment to express by burning the flag. Also we should punish those who have different opinions and views than ourselves.

To the page before, page 1 within lines 2-3 communicates “... held that a person has a right to express disagreement with governmental policies…” These two pieces of textual evidence support the quote from Barbara Johnson because the editor is explaining and supporting the decision of Johnson to have a right to to the flag for disagreement and expression. Along with rights also being implied is that an individual should not be compelled to do anything by officialdom. Barbara Johnson’s quote really does tie into these different passages.
