Now with the coming of the 20s, they are now reenergized and added to the list of hate which included Catholics, Jews, pacifists, communists, internationalists, revolutionists, bootleggers, gambling, adultery, and birth control. They were pro-white Anglo Saxon protestant and hated pretty much everything else that wasn’t that. They used fear, lynching, and intimidation to get what they want and to get things done.
Seeing Red After ww1, America resumed back to the idea of isolationism, with that, they also expected foreigners that came to America to change their ways to a more American lifestyle. During this time, the “Red Scare” was on everyone’s minds, it was basically a fear of communism that came up in the minds of many Americans. This was caused by the Russian Revolution, Eugene Debs’s growing number in the socialist party, the many more strikes that have been happening and a series of mail bombs across America. With this idea of Communism in people’s minds, it was logical for them to say that it was associated with all foreigners from Europe, so making them change their customs to a more American lifestyle would be ideal for a better society.
