American Red Cross Case Study Essay
What were the needs/issues that lead to the development of this program?
As for my case, I am involved in multiple programs in American Red Cross that has been already implemented way before I have offered my services. In addition, being part of the American Red Cross has broadened my horizon to a whole new level of understanding of how I should perceive public health in the interconnectedness of human being relation. In the American Red cross, communication is the key to a successful task or goal, and without effective communication the American Red Cross would have a very ineffectual operational system to manage. My role in the program is to be a provider, a team player, a communicator, as well as a responder as an American Red Cross Intern/volunteer. As a result, I am able to learn and contribute so much by providing my services at the American Red Cross Broward Chapter. Although other volunteers and I, were put on standby away from providing services to stranded passengers who were at the Fort Lauderdale Airport shooting in the beginning of the operation, we were still able to provide services when we were needed later on. Therefore, I was part of the responding team that facilitates with massive distributions of food, beverages including providing other supports that were essential at the time.
When was the program last updated and/or evaluated?
The American Red Cross Program of Responders has been updated for the disaster action team in 2012 (“Red cross is recruiting for the disaster action team training,” 2012). However, due to the Airport shooting that had just occurred in Fort Lauderdale, the American Red Cross of Broward Chapter has been undergoing its own self-evaluation in order to a prepare plans that will allow it to respond quickly just in case a similar incident might
