An Analysis Of Golden Dancer
Golden Dancer was a rocking horse that Drummond got for his birthday as a child. Golden Dancer was expensive and beautiful. However, Golden Dancer broke when Drummond jumped into the saddle and rocked. In that moment, he learned that Golden Dancer was all looks and no substance or quality. It taught him to always look deeper if something seems too good to be true. Also, if something is, in fact, a lie felt the need to expose it. “ Bert, whenever you see something bright, shining, perfect-seeming- all gold, with purple spots- look behind the paint! And if it’s a lie- show it up for what it really is!”(Lawrence and Lee, 110). That quote, said by Drummond, shows how he learned that outer beauty is not always the truth, and it is what is on the
inside that really counts. In addition, it inspired him to uncover the truth about people that were not what they claimed to be.
