“Where are you going with that bundle, unconcerned?” Nimmo’s voice came from inside.
“I have made sarson, Bhaiji loves it. Taking some from him”, said Jassi in a low voice.
“Enough of serving Bhaiji, it would be better if you just go and stay there with him, then serve him as much as you want”. “What are you saying Nimmo, why would I leave my home and go stay there?” unclear of what Nimmo said Jassi replied. “I am just telling you the truth, you don’t even understand what your son says. Everyday going to Bhaiji’s place, giving the neighbors a chance to spread rumors, just think about your sons reputation” Nimmo taunted. “What neighbours Nimmo? The ones who refused to help me when your father-in-law passed away? If it wasn’t for Bhaiji and Ammiya, who would have supported me and the kids? my widow mother?” Jassi replied.
“Big deal!! Manmeet aunty from next door has told me how they made you work like a maid, so it’s fine if they helped you a bit. You are not going with that bundle, we don’t have money growing on trees” replied Nimmo arrogantly, snatched the bundle from her Mother-in-law and went inside.
