Creative Writing: Mary Maloney's Murder
As the days go by Mary Maloney is waiting to get the call that the detectives had found her husband’s killer. Although, Mary knew they never would find the killer, because well quite frankly she would never turn herself in.
The next day Mary got a call from the detectives.
“Hello is this Mrs. Maloney?” said detective Jack Noonan.
“Why yes, it is Mr. Noonan, have you found out anything else about the case?”
“Yes, about that Mrs. Maloney, we have found your husband`s killer.” Mary was in shock, “What am I supposed to do...” she thought to herself as the detective was still on the other line, “I cannot let some poor innocent man go to jail for my mistake.” Eventually she snapped back to reality in time to hear Mr. Noonan talking about going down to the station.

Noonan,” Mary said with an emotionless face, “I have something to tell you, this is not the guy you need to take to prison today. The person you should be taking is me.”
“I am confused Mary.” Noonan said, “What are you talking about?”
“I am the one who killed Patrick; remember that lamb leg I made you and your partner for dinner dear?” Mrs. Maloney said to Jack whose face looked disorderly and perplexed.
“Why yes of course I remember Mary, that was delicious, but what does that have to do with anything?”
“I hit Patrick in the head with that, and I fed it to us so nobody would find the weapon.” Mary said looking down. “I wasn’t going to tell anyone and let you send that poor man to prison so I wouldn’t have to go.”
“Mary, you know you can trust me, I wouldn’t let anything happen to you because I know that’s not what Patrick would have wanted.” Jack said to Mary who was crying with her head still faced down towards the floor. “Why did you kill him anyways?”
“I really, really did not mean to, I thought it would just knock him out for a while so he would forget what he had said to me.” Mary explained.
“Well Mary what had he said to you, was it anything vulgar that could get him in

Judge and jury, I beg thee to charge Ms. Maloney with the murder of Patrick Maloney. Why would the perfectly stable Mary Maloney randomly decide to kill her husband? What would cause a perfectly sane woman to do such a heinous crime? As you are aware, Patrick Maloney was a well-respected member of the police force. To all who knew him he was a good man. He never had any enemies, and was very committed to his job. So how did this good man end up dead? Supposedly, Mr. Maloney was alleged of having an affair. However, Mr. Maloney is no longer around to testify to that fact. If Ms. Maloney had heard of this alleged affair, maybe that drove her to murder him. There is sufficient evidence showing that Ms. Maloney was the murderess. Number one, there…

In my opinion, Mary Maloney has lost control. She has killed her husband, Patrick Maloney without knowing the true facts which proves she has lost control. This is shown from the beginning when Patrick Maloney told Mary Maloney something that would change their lives forever. “Her first instinct was not to believe any of it, or reject it all. It occurred to her that perhaps he hadn’t even spoken that she herself had imagined the whole thing” (63). This quote shows how Mary Maloney pretended that nothing happened and went on with her day and started cooking. This proves that she was in denial. Later on in the story, Mary Maloney went to get supper made for her husband and herself. She stopped and looked at her…

Another way Mary Maloney is more devious is, she pretends to be shocked by Patrick's death. The text states,” if she found anything unusual or terrible when she got home, then it would be a shock and she would have to react with grief and horror”(Dahl 3). This quote shows Mrs.Maloney being devious because she pretends to be surprised so she wouldn`t get caught.Even though she killed him,…

Mr. Maloney had asked Mrs. Maloney to sit so he could discuss his wishes to get a divorce. She never expected this night to take a turn like this, so when he told her this she was in disbelief. She did not want to face reality so she got up out of her chair and grabbed the lamb leg from the freezer to make dinner. Mr. Maloney said he was leaving and to not make dinner. Then, she picked up the lamb from the table and bashed it into his skull. The back of Mr. Maloney’s head was completely shattered. She realized what she had done, but showed not even a glimpse of remorse across her face. She murdered him in cold…

Once the investigators had finished eating up the lamb leg they continued to search her house for any other clues. They searched every single room of the house. Three hours later they started gathering their materials. “Well Mrs. Maloney it doesn’t looked like we have came to a conclusion on exactly what happened to your husband.” One of the police officers told her. “Oh, but you will still continue to search for answers right?” Mrs. Maloney questioned him. “It doesn’t look like we have come to much luck in this investigation. Goodnight now.” The police officer replied. The investigators and the police officer were now heading out of the house and getting into their cars and going away. Mrs. Maloney walked closed the front door and walked back into the living room. “Gosh, I don’t know what I would have done if I was caught.” Mrs. Maloney thought to…
