Anabolic steroids is an article in which some scientist are trying to create awareness of the health risks and consequences that people can obtain if they use anabolic steroids. To support the ideas and concepts, the author interviewed different specialist who chemically explained the different reactions in our bodies caused by different types of anabolic steroids such as Androstenedione. He also wrote different about known of using anabolic steroids and how these affected their careers. The author expressed his concern in a professional way by asking and answering important questions through the whole article which are the relevant information that I will discuss later on. Basically this article express the positive and negatives thoughts about using steroids in logical and specific different points of view.

Major effects of steroid abuse can include liver damage, Jaundice, fluid retention, high blood pressure increases, "bad" cholesterol. Also, males risk shrinking of the testicles, baldness, breast development, and infertility. Females risk growth of facial hair, menstrual changes, male-pattern baldness, and deepened voice. Teens risk permanently stunted height, accelerated puberty changes, and severe acne. All users, but particularly those who inject the drug, risk infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS and hepatitis.

Connection and application

Basically my topic is completely connected to the world of the major leagues sports because most of the athletes use anabolic steroids to improve their speed and strength. Maybe they don’t actually realize how they are affecting their bodies. If I could help them based on what I learned, I would try to create awareness of the type of medical conditions such as high blood pressure that they can get by inhering steroids. I would also talk about the ACSM, The International Olympic Committee and The national Football league who prohibited the use of anabolic and declared them as another type of drug. In order to provide more information I would also say that any player who use anabolic will have a disqualification and loss of any medal.

Major events such as the 114 won games by the New York Yankees also support the main idea which says that most of our athletes use steroids to improve their speed or strength without caring about the consequences such as high blood pressure, atrophy of reproductive organ, liver failure and many other health problems.

In conclusion this is a very useful article because it is a complete and logical explanation about how can people risk their health by using steroids. It is really important to know everything about this topic because the anabolic steroids are substances naturally found in our bodies, but if we exceed the amount of those we can have long term problems
