Introduction

The sea sessions is a three day festival located in Bundoran Co. Donegal in the beautiful north west of Ireland that has been described as being one of the best surf, skate and music festivals in Europe. Now in it's second year (2009) and continuing into it's third in 2010 offers a weekend of over forty live music acts, surfing, skating, arts, food and bars along with the natural charm of Bundoran town for young and old all for a price of €53.50 for a weekend ticket and €35 for a single day ticket making it easy to see why this is a very desirable destination for any would be festival goer.

Clare the previous year and being an enthusiast of the surfing scene, myself and a few friends of mine on the back of some positive word of mouth decided that this would be a festival well worth attending, and also to see what Donegal has to offer for the Irish surf festival market. Seeing as it was a three day festival and having learned from previous experiences attending other festivals we decided to take advantage of the fact that it was located in the within town itself and rent an apartment located fifty meter's from the festival grounds for the weekend rather than bare the uncanniness of the usual events involved in sleeping in a tent on a makeshift camp site.
The event itself was held on Friday June 26th to Sunday June 28th 2009 inclusive. In this next section S.W.O.T analysis will be used to analyze the festivals strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats which will provide the framework that the recommendations will be based upon. The festival has many strengths that have enabled its continued success since its infancy. The location for the festival alone is a great strength as it takes place within the popular Gros Morne National Park which provides a setting of amazing natural landscapes, and spectacular scenery for the event. It is apparent that the festivals majority of customers are locals from nearby communities, which is great as it shows the festival has the support of the nearby communities, and does not rely on visitors from afar or out of the providence. The strong focus on community can also be seen within the festival as there are various local artists, musicians, and writers showcased along with the numerous local programs and collaborations with local arts groups, including the: Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador, Gross Morne Summer Music Program, and school outreach programs.…

This is a picture of me at my favorite surf spot Kona Inn. I was introduced to this spot by my gregarious friend Logan Mccollum. During the production of his bodyboarding video I fell in love with the wave. At first, I was too frightened by the shallow, very jagged reef but soon I began to grow very passionate about these sort of waves. My friends and I would surf this spot and feel like it was our second home. People were hardly ever in the water and most that knew about Kona Inn knew how secret people kept such a discretion about it. Over the years I surfed this spot, it always amazed me how other spots wouldn't have any waves but Kona Inn would. Whether there was waves or not and Kona Inn, Id always have fun reminiscing how some of the best waves I've ever seen came onto this little reef.…
