Equality and Diversity relates to a person’s human right to be treated as an individual, this gives each person the opportunity to achieve their full potential in life without prejudice and discrimination. It has been referred to in many books, but I particularly like the following two quotes:
Equality is about everyone having the same opportunities in (Wallace, 2007) society regardless of age, disability, sex, race, religion or sexual orientation.

I use the ILP as a one stop shop to log everything from initial assessment to summative assessment. The learner, other staff and carers can see at a glance learner progression, the types of assessment used and the comments between the tutor and learner.
As the course progresses I do become much more familiar with the learners ability and the types of assessment methods that work best for the learner. At all times I ensure learners have equal access to various types of assessment.
There have been occasions when either an assessment method has not worked or two types of assessment has been needed to gauge a satisfactory outcome. For example while assessing a learner for colour recognition, he answered three out of six colours correct but later in the session could not recognise a colour he had previously answered correctly. I assessed him again and he could not answer any of the colours correctly. It appeared he could have colour blindness which I had not been made aware of.
