Many adolescents today think that finding the path to true happiness is achieved by buying the newest Air Jordans or irresistible designer fragrance. They often believe they will be more popular and become attractive to others if they buy certain products such as the newest eye make-up or hair products. Other ads promise technological fixes such as the latest iPhone which would be the envy of all your friends! Some members of society believe that purchasing these products are answers to our longings - ready-made answers to fulfilling our needs. Today the many forms of media fulfill us with only temporary illusions for happiness if we purchase their products - the shallow answers to life’s longings. In Thierry Mugler’s “Alien” fragrance advertisement, Thierry stands out in a tight gold dress. Her hair is styled extraordinary and so is her make-up. The fragrance bottle is purple and gold with “AlieneilA” written on the bottle in a strange font that will catch your eye when seeing the bottle on your dresser. Thierry Mugler’s “Alien” fragrance ad shows individualism because it shows that buying this product will make you stand out and show how you are unique. The advertisement for Sperry, Top - Sider’s footwear has the use of descriptive words and attractive photos of a couple by the sea to entice people to buy their products. The words “a passion for the sea,” suggests that you will find your guy (girl) of your dreams by wearing Sperry footwear. The photos depict a couple enjoying a fun-filled happy date by sea, wearing their favorite Sperry footwear. By wearing Sperry footwear the couple in the photographs show that they will have a passionate carefree day by the sea, along with their pal, a Golden Retriever.This ad clearly promotes “sexual permissiveness” since wearing these Sperry products will attract others to you.     The advertisement is a full page with little text. It has vivid fiery eye catching colors. Skyy Vodka bottle is being gently iced by a well manicured hand. The bottle is a sharp navy blue with silver print, bolding the Skyy text for emphasize and the entire ad is featured with a red background. A translucent crisp cube of ice is being held by the hand of a woman with long red nails. Skyy Vodka advertisement’s blue and red contrast speak volumes about what this product is trying to tell customers: that Skyy Vodka makes you cool, calm, sleek, and collective even in the zestiest situations.
