Everyone had showed some respects to each other very often because they were here to seek help and get clean from all the drinking. In other words, everyone did help each other out to be sober. It seemed like everyone has their own goals, and they worked together and be helpful to them to reach their goals. Without conflicts, others would feel safe and be able to trust in them. I like the idea how there were no tensions forming and no drama being shown because I wanted to see others treating nicely and kindly. If I did hear any vocal tones being raised or any yelling and screaming, I would most likely to walk out of the room to get out of their way, but I would be more intrigued in witnessing how the difficult situation be handled by the facilitator himself. I liked how the group was always being friendly to each other and even made sure the newcomers felt welcomed as if they have been a part of their group for a long time. However, I did have troubled identifying the leader, so maybe the seating arrangements would have to be different, like sitting upfront of the room or anything that shows any leadership. After attending this group meeting, I was a little nervous at first, but I felt like I have learned many things from the group themselves. Even though I am neither a drinker nor an alcoholic like them, this group had inspired me on how I should control my drinking in the future, so I do not have the same problem as them, like getting myself sick or losing contact with my family. What I have gained from this experience was I do believe in these people that they can get themselves into sober for a long time. Once they have learned from their own mistakes, that should motivate them to fix themselves and get their own life back together. Before I left their group, one of them told me that if I know anyone who is an alcoholic or had a drinking problem, then I should invite them to join their group anytime, which was nice of them to
