This quote means you would be yourself rather than someone you arent. It also means you should live your life not someone else's. In part of Lincolns famous quote he says,”I am bound to be what light I have.” This quote means to be who you are rather than who you aren't. It means to be normal and not build yourself up to be something your not. The quote means that you have to live up to who you are. For example, lets say you lose on a last second play and its your fault. Instead on complaining and rambling on about how its not your fault step up and say it was my fault. There's no point in making an excuse to make yourself look better, in fact, usually it makes you look worse than before.

Instead when someone says that you should take it as a challenge and step up and work your way to getting better at it.
