Sometimes in life, we come to the situation where we lose the most precious things that find precious in life. In “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury, it talks about a girl named Margot. She recently had moved to the fictional depiction of Venus, where almost everyday, it’s always constant downpour of rain. Bradbury shows us how this affects Margot by having her display the feelings of sadness and sorrow. As someone who had onced lived on Earth, she had always lived with the sun above her head. However, Bradbury has a way of showing us through his craft and description that even the most insignificant objects play a big role in our lives.“All day yesterday they had read in class about the sun. About how like a lemon it was, and how hot.” During the period of time when she was moving to Venus, Margot had realized how much she didn’t have now compared to in the past. Seeing the sun everyday is almost like a daily activity, a routine that occurs everyday since the day of birth. However with Margot, it’s more than a routine, it’s comparable to a drug. The reason why is because like a drug, seeing the sun becomes a way of living, and once it is taken away, Margot felt the withdrawal and realized how she couldn’t live without it. To differ, the song “It Will Rain” focuses on what the effect is after losing something more significant and loved. In this case, Bruno talks about the loss of a lover, and how it deeply impacts him. “If you ever leave me baby, leave some morphine at my door. 'Cause it would take a whole lot of medication. To realize what we used to have. We don't have it anymore.” Love is a strong emotion. That’s why there is a whole genre of literature, music, and movies dedicated to one feeling we have for other people.
