The general topic of John Lewis’ speech is that the fight to complete freedom isn't over and they still have a long way to go. John Lewis gave a speech on August 28, 1963. It was known as, “Speech at the March on Washington”. The reason for his speech was to encourage men and women everywhere to fight for complete freedom. Black men and women were beaten, jailed, and murdered for participating in peaceful protests. Lewis uses his powerful position to bring awareness to their troubles to try and bring solutions so no one else is hurt for fighting to have simple human rights like voting and participating in politics.
