Analysis Of Jonathan Swifts A Modest Proposal
In Jonathan Swifts, “A Modest Proposal”, he suggests that a way to deal with the overpopulation of children in Ireland, we remove the child from their family after the age of one to decrease the burden on the parents. This proposal is specifically designed for those family’s that are low income and are often found on the streets begging for scraps. The children will be offered to other families in the kingdom that are well off and can provide for the children until they can provide for themselves. Swift is suggesting that once the children reach the age of six they can begin contributing to society. They will become useful and be able to provide an amount of work that they can live off of.
