Analysis Of Nadel's Me In You
The idea of two people being foils of each other and being connected by their similarity by Nadel as a basis for exploring the connections of my siblings and I
Nadel uses picture collages to bring out the similarities in two people. I explored this idea of being connected by your similarities in my drawing, “Me in you” (image 5A and Image5B). I also used the physical idea of joining the faces together in one of my portraits. It joins my siblings and I together by making us a whole face but we are still different as we sing align because we are not completely the same nor are we completely different. Nadel uses the collage as an alternative medium to show connection. (Nadel,2015)
I used this as the basis for my ideas in m drawing. She inspired
me to explore my connections and my difference to people. I executed this by separating the images of us currently and the collage of us as babies. My idea is that we are different in our similarities.
The concept of capturing emotion in an artwork as seen in dumas’ work as a basis for the idea behind my artwork
Marlene used images from every day and they were abstracted to resonate the form and context. She used her paintings to depict emotion in the everyday world (Dumas,2015). I explored the use of emotion in my artwork as the basis of my idea. I formed my idea around emotions not being a visible sign of depression and I used her concept in the opposite way.
