“Project management is the application of processes, methods, knowledge, skills and experience to achieve the project objectives” (Martin, 2012 pg. 1). He further points out that a project undertakes planned objectives which identified the outputs, outcomes or benefits. Moreover, he added that a project is successful when it achieves the objectives that are aligned to the criteria and are within budget and the agreed timescale (Martin, 2012). It is within this context that organizations at some point see the need implement a project for various reasons for example, “to reduce the time it takes to process an order has benefits such as improved customer service, increased sales, and reduced frustration for sales staff who have to deal with customer complaints.” (Mindtools.com, 2016 par 6). As such, the project leaders have developed project specifications for the implementation of a new product for Grace Kennedy Foods. This reflection paper will provide the lessons learnt, the skills gained, challenges encountered and improvements.

The resources was inadequately analysed – Effective analysis wasn’t carried out in relation to the machines. Notably, a lab test machine has already been in place at Grace Kennedy. Therefore same would have to be eliminated from the Work breakdown Structure. This creates a decrease in the budget; in spite of this the project was within budget. Furthermore, which allow us to utilize the money for other resources for the project. As a result, a change request and approval form was completed and submitted for sponsors’ approval to remove the lab test machine from the list of resources.
