Project Close Out
Project management can be described in a multitude of ways and is used in a wide variety of industries. The projects themselves can be small and simple or on large scale and extremely complex. No matter the size of the project if they are knowledgeable and precise in the planning it will ultimately start, execute, and close with success. [1] A project is a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service, or result. The project being written about today was not on a large scale but overall made a large impact in the company atmosphere.
I previously worked for a company growing at such a rapid rate we could not take into consideration …show more content…
I developed a time schedule over the course of a month for each department to clear out and reorganize their data. A great deal of the paperwork was outdated but it being confidential had to be accurately boxed and stored at an offsite facility. This required a records management employee to be scheduled to work with each department. The data that could be thrown away, still being confidential, had to be put into locked shred containers and taken away by a private company. The next step was physically removing the large cabinets themselves. We could not sell them therefore I had to locate nonprofit organizations to take them. That process took finding the different companies, scheduling the individual times, figuring the period it would take to remove them, and scheduling the service elevators to get the cabinets on the ground. The schedule essentially transforms the project from a vision to a time-based …show more content…
Part of that was also working with electricians and technical teams to have the wiring rerouted or installed in the proper locations. After the selections had been made and the blueprints signed off on was making sure the builders could install everything without interrupting the process of a normal work day in our office. That was a huge challenge because a large percentage of companies work on the same schedule. Monday – Friday and during the day. For us that would not work as, we always had many investors and stockholders from all over the world in our office on a daily.
The last step of my project was acquiring the inspectors come in to make sure we were up to code and not under any violations. Then it was selecting the new employees who would take up these spaces, getting them interviewed, hired, registered with payroll, set up their personal IT programs, badging and building access passes, and getting them settled into their stations.
Over all the project went well and mostly smoothly. There were a few hiccups from team members not following instructions but all it took was a little guidance from me, and we were back on
