In addition to red, the term is also used to describe a similar light, which can be used to display more colors using other gases, and more than 150 colors can be produced. If Nanjing Road Walkway represents the prosperity and commerce of modern Shanghai, then the Yu Garden and City God Temple will represent the traditional side of Shanghai. Yu Garden is also called Yuyuan Garden, and it is located near the City God Temple from the old Shanghai (Yuyuan Tourist Market, 2008). The old City God temple’s temple fair gradually developed into a most ancient commercial area of Shanghai, and there have all kinds of snack restaurant, with antique shops and small commodity market as well. There are The Green Corridor, Ningbo dumpling shop, and other famous restaurants. The pastry shop are inheritance of the old and famous for generations, most of the pastry chef will use food coloring and seals to put stamp on snack with his or her own logo, the seals are usually inherited from ancestors and improved by every generations. On the contrary, the most eye-catching is the city god temple Starbucks, because of its surrounding architectural style is very ancient and the huge capital letters make it more special and standout. Unlike the Chinese character signs in the surrounding is the handwriting style calligraphy; Starbucks used a font similar to the one called freight sans black, and this kind of typeface font is more neatly and commercialized. However when people walk to the back of the coffee shop, they will see Starbucks' Chinese style signs. It not

Thomas chose neon as a medium for the reason that light easily attracts the viewer’s attention and emphasizes ideas. Due to the bright light, it manages to say something out loud without the material or piece itself being too intense. I believe that the artist’s purpose of flashing the phrases “Successful woman” and “Angry men”, instead of keeping them lit like the underlines and slash, was to surprise us or to keep us waiting. Flashing lights is also another way to get the viewer’s attention and keep them from looking away due to the fact that our eyes keep going back to them. Bright lights forces our eyes to look at it, talk about it, and even go towards it. Additionally, the artist may have chosen the color yellow for the light as it is a powerful and intense color, able to invoke strong feelings and quickly grab one’s attention, which corresponds well with the viewer. The use of the underline also helped in allowing the viewer to retain the message as underlining is usually used to emphasize something, meaning it that something is important or that it should be remembered. The artist may have kept the slash and the underlining light to further emphasize the…

Neon is the Element I’m interesting in. I choose to do neon because I found out the uses that are in our daily life. Neon was discovered by Sir William Ramsay in 1898 (England). Sir William Ramsay was a Scottish chemist who discovered it through the study of liquefied air. The name neon originates from the Greek word neos meaning new. Neon is the forth most abundant element in the universe. Neon is the element that allows you to watch TV, and without neon we would never see the cool flashing signs outside the bars, clubs, and restaurants. I’m going to tell you about neon’s uses, history, and facts. The largest use for Neon is in advertising signs. Neon is also used to make high voltage indicators. I’m going to give you the chemical breakdown of neon. Neon is on the periodic table, its atomic number is 10, protons, electrons are 10, 10 neutrons and its symbol is Ne. Neon is a noble gas. The period of neon is 2, and the group is 18. Neon is very rare on earth even though it’s very common element in the universe. In the earth's atmosphere, neon only comprises 0.0018 percent of the volume. On the earth, neon is always present as a gas. Neon has three stable isotopes, and it’s the second lightest noble gas, after helium. Two different types of neon are commonly used in the world. Neon glow lamps are tiny; they have been used as power on indicators. Neon is not a very common element, but the places it is most abundant is in the earth’s atmosphere, and trapped with in rocks in the earth’s crust. Neon signs operate at much higher voltages. Neon is not known to toxic, and it doesn’t have any stable compounds. Neon is just a light it’s an inert gas. Neon mixed with some other elements can make a bright light in an enclosed tube. When under low pressure, neon emits a bright orange-red glow if a small electric current is passed through it. It’s colorless but glows reddish orange electric discharge. Neon is an element classified as a noble gas which can be located in the…

Sir William Ramsay, a Scottish chemist, and Morris M. Travers, an English chemist, discovered neon. Another important person is Georges Claude, a French chemist, who invented neon lighting around (1870-1960). Claude showed his first neon sign at the Paris Exposition of 1910. And then sold the first neon advertising sign to a Paris barber two years later. Around the 1920s, neon lighting had become popular in many parts of the world. In 1922, the Haaxman brothers brought the first neon signs to Holland. And in 1932, the first neon signs reached the United States.…

During lecture, I learned that even though they are called neon lights, the lights do not necessarily contain neon gas, some contain argon or other gasses to produce different colors. The red ones contain neon. I conducted this experiment the same way I did the previous three. Placing a diffraction grating over my eye, I was able to see a straight rainbow spectrum. The spectrum of the neon light had several bright lines.…

I chose to do neon because most of us encounter neon on a daily basis as opposed to other elements such as pure gold or silver. Our world is much more colorful as a result of neon. The symbol of Neon is Ne. It is also in group 18 of the periodic table so it is classified as a noble gas. The atomic number of Neon is 10. Neon is the 10th element on the periodic table. This essay will discuss the many uses of Neon and its origins as well as the scientific aspect of the element such as its electron configuration, physical properties and chemical properties.…

It is one of the many elements in the periodic table. Each is unique and different from each other. For example Neon is a colorless and odorless gas, however, when it conducts electricity the element turns red, which is what you see on signs, lasers, indicators, and more. Neon is a chemically inert element which is valued because it does not react with other elements. Ever since Neon was found, it has been used for numerous things and it has become one of the many vast elements of the periodic table. Little did Ramsay and Travers know that what they discovered changed the lives of several generations…
