Analysis Of The Song 'Good Hurt' By Chappell Roan

The song that I’ve chosen to analyze is called “Good Hurt” by Chappell Roan. The artist’s birth name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, she’s 19, and she’s from Willard, Missouri. Her love of music began when she started taking piano lessons at age 12. She composed a song in 2014 called “Die Young,” at Interlochan Arts Camp (YouTube, 2014). She said (Holman, 2017),“No one in my family is musical, none of my cousins, no one in my immediate family is musical.” When she was 14, she had already tried out for America’s Got Talent, but unfortunately, didn’t make it. It can be painful, but at the same time, it gives us something to fight for. The lyrics match that dark emotion portrayed in the instrumentation; it forces me to feel every word. With the way she projects her vocals, it’s very clear that she can feel everything too, which is an admirable quality in an artist.
