People with disabilities haven’t always been treated with respect and kindness, like they are today. From the passage The Visible Invisible Disability the author claims that “26 million Americans (almost 1 in 10) were considered to have a severe disability, while only 1.8 million use a wheelchair and 5.2 million used a cane, crutches or walker.” These numbers show that not all people with disabilities have assistive devices causing their disability to be physical. Invisible disabilities can also be severe, just because they cannot be seen doesn’t mean they’re not to be taken just as seriously.
