In today’s society it is evident that only people that have experience or have come close to experiencing the hardship of homelessness seem conscious of the growing problem and are willing to uplift those who are down on their luck. A major factor that hinders the aiding of homeless citizens is people’s perception of homeless people. The homeless is dehumanized, they are often times treated unfairly. The discrimination they face is uncanny for example they are often denied to entry into establishments, proper health care, and protection. Not only are the homeless viewed as a subhuman group, society also tends to criminalizes them therefore they are often feared. I believe we can provide the homeless, especially those who are in transition and are working to get back on track with their lives, with homes that provide them with the dignity and safety they deserve.
