Analyzing Alligator Pie By Dennis Lee
In this activity the teacher reads the poem Alligator Pie by Dennis Lee. The children are set into groups of about six and asked to create moves to the first stanza of the poem. After all groups are finished each groups presents there dance moves to the class. Once the presentations are done students are asked to write a new stanza for the poem. They can do this individually or pairs. Finally the students can share there new poem with the rest of the class.

Personally I felt like this was a great activity. It allows for the student to gain more classroom community by working together to create actions to the first stanza of the poem. I felt like this entire activity touches on at least one talent of each child so they can all enjoy themselves

There are many factors that should be taken into consideration when debating on what the biggest problems are not only in the justice system but also in the court system, many of them being seen throughout the novel Monster by Walter Dean Myers. For instance, race seems to still be an issue in today’s justice system. One example on how race is a problem in the justice system is on the case of Clarence Brandley. Clarence was realized from jail after being wrongfully convicted and on death row for almost one decade as it states in the Montana Abolition Coalition article. Another problem in the justice system is the death penalty. One reason why the death penalty is a problem is because innocent people can be executed as it also states in the Montana Abolition Coalition article. One final problem out of the many is the the court system is actually the jury. For example as it is stated in the article jurs are supposed to be representative of our diverse community (Ladner,2000).…

This activity would support communication and intellectual development, because the children all need to communicate with each other deciding who is going to take what role; the song/story also helps develop listening skills. The children need to listen and think about what comes next and decide when it is their turn to either hide their duckling or let the old lady swallow their animal this is the intellectual part of the activity. Every child is different but this activity may cover a specific aspect to support a child’s individual communicational or intellectual development need.…

My goal when writing this paper is to get my opinion and perspective on the poem across to my classmates so they know where I stand, but also to remain broad enough in my writing so that my readers can compare their own response to mine. Maybe in doing that, I can help a fellow classmate or two who has a block and is stuck in the middle of the assignment.…

This activity can help influence teaching strategies and overall student learning because it is a team-based activity, not excluding Phillip, but rather, possesses developmental value for all of the children. Due to the team-based exercise, learning can occur in a child’s natural environment with his or her own classmates. Learning and teaching frequently occurs in everyday experiences and contexts, and should therefore be taken into consideration when formulating activities to encourage developmental progression (p. 252)…

I can still remember when I was a mere child taking piano lessons. When I grew older and my piano teacher began to prepare me for ABRSM piano exams, I can clearly recall the first time I was exposed to jazz music. The first jazz piece I have ever played was “Alligator Crawl” by Fats Waller. At first, for my classically trained ears, the discordant chords and seemingly random note choices made no sense to me. As I begin to master the piece, I revel in the technical difficulty and fun the piece provided. There was such a free spirit and joy to the tune that I could not help but smile every time I play that piece. That moment ignited my passion to delve into the different genres of music available in the world other than classical music. Since…
