Edgar was more on January 19th, 1809 in Boston Massachusetts. By the time Edgar was three years old both of his parents have died. His father passed when Edgar was two years old. After both of his parents passed him and his three siblings were separated. His brother Henry went to live with his grandparents while Edgar was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. John Allan and Rosalie was taken in by another family.

The Raven is a short poem about his wife's passing, and how depressed edgar was. The raven enters the room, and the speaker thinks it's a angle,that will help im feels better about the lost of his life. The raven can only say one word “nevermore”. The speaker is confused, what does nevermore mean? It could possibly a sign to move on.
On September 23rd edgar left New York for Philadelphia to stay with a friend named James P. Moss. On October 3, Edgar was found at Gunner's Hall a public house in Philadelphia he was taken to the hospital. He was in and out of consciousness but was never able to explain exactly what happened to him. Edgar Allan Poe died in the hospital on Sunday, October 7, 1849. It was found after he died he died from rabies.
