The main objective of this lab was to observe the activity of enzyme peroxidase in real time under different experimental conditions. To see how peroxidase reacts with its substrate guaiacol under different conditions. We measure the amount of substances per test tube and then combine all of them together. Each test tube contains a measured amount of any listed substances including H₂O. Each measured amount of peroxidase along with its substrate guaiacol, and other listed substances will show how actively the enzyme oxidizes the substrate. To measure the…
As the severity of crimes in the United States escalates the requirement for adequate punishment to match this increase also rises. In short, the more violent the criminal offense the more severe the sentence to be served will be, and the judicial system has often escalated the means by which this can be achieved, by enforcing the law upon persons as young as fourteen. In the case of the fictional character Steve Harmon, from the book Monster by Walter Dean Myers, he is a sixteen year old being tried as an adult, pending the charge of felony murder. He is being defended by his lawyer Kathy O’Brien, and being prosecuted by Sandra Petrocelli, from the state of New York. The charge felony murder, where a group of persons unknown entered a drugstore,…
Undermining his program is the “cooperation of the public”, and persuasion of the people is a driving force guiding his speech. Roosevelt’s voice, already familiar due to his many years of public service and recent presidential campaign, took on an…

The second person I want to write about is actor Mark Harmon. He has been an actor for his entire career, but is most known for his role of Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs. In college, he was a football star, and went on to acting. He starred in the longest standing number one rated television series program, NCIS. No other television program has ever held that rating before or since.…
Slavery has been such a controversial topic throughout our country’s history. One of the best examples of conflict stemming from this issue was the Dred Scott decision. In this paper, I would like to discuss the differing arguments between Dred Scott, an enslaved man who tried to win freedom for himself and his family, and Chief Justice, Roger B. Taney, who delivered the majority opinion in the case that declared Dred Scott and all African American slaves were not citizens, therefore were not entitled to the rights of other ordinary citizens in the United States of America (Friedman 124). I will also research and present the evidence used by both men to provide a basis for their individual case arguments.…
Over the past few months, teams discussed the growth of the company in Kava. Assigned teams as well as I, defined problems and arrived at solutions for the causes and effects. We analyzed and evaluated important information needed and alternative solutions to make the growth successful. As we launch growth in Kava, we must further identify the rationale and plans for the proposed solutions to strengthen our existence. We must determine factors affecting the decisions implemented and the proposed solutions; evaluate resources and actions required to implement the solutions; and evaluate the ethical implications of the solutions from the stakeholder’s perspectives.…
Throughout almost everyone’s life, there is a focus on the future, more specifically in a future career. As young children, we have the hopes of being doctors, police officers, fairies, and princess. When we grow older we learn about the realities and the limits of our futures. We understand that we cannot be fairies or the Flash. However, the pressure to decide what to do in life is always there. A pressure which is the most prevalent in the first years of college. In “Major Decisions” by James Tunstead Burtchaell he explores the ways that picking a major in college is less of a pathway to a certain career, but more to wider possibilities in the future. The importance in not in the career that can be the final goal but rather the knowledge about…
Congress focused this resistance on veteran’s benefits, but the tactics of congressional leadership stifled it (Daniels 135). Resistance in the Senate lasted four days in the Senate while the Speaker of the House placed a limit of two hours on debate. To achieve what he wanted, FDR used the tools available to him like threatening vetoes in the Senate (Daniels 157). The skills FDR presented were not at all revolutionary. Roosevelt simply realized he needed to work with Congress and recognized that implementing policy was “all about give and take despite the appearance of Roosevelt getting everything he wanted”( Daniels 137). Political scientists define this as the broker state where members bargain to get what they desire. It is not party rule or the president ability to get his own party’s support but it was Roosevelt’s ability in work with members of both parties (Snowiss 60). Roosevelt did not let partisanship to get in his way and realized to get anything done he needed to work with Democrats and Republicans.…
Imagine how it feels, having a delusional mother, being abandoned by your father at the age of 13, and being the only one your siblings can look up to. Your hands are tied and you're forced to work in a feeble attempt to keep the thread your entire family is hanging by, intact. Well that's exactly what happens in Lyddie by Katherine Paterson. After her father left in search of “vain riches”, Lydia Worthen must now take charge as head of the family, which means she has to work to pay off her father’s debts. To do so, she goes to work at the Lowell Mills, with an unwavering ambition to reunite her family. At the mills Lyddie befriends Diana, a young woman that’s working towards better working conditions by getting signatures for a petition. Lyddie is reluctant to sign, fearing that she’ll jeopardize her job. I say it’s worth it, because honestly, what has she got to lose?…
Paul Bogard is stating how important darkness is with his article. He talks about how dark is needed just as much as light. How life evolved to steady rhythm of bright days and dark nights. How human bodies need darkness for sleep.Explaining how the rest of the world depends on darkness to grow and operate correctly.…
In this article it explains the correlations between environmental issues and race. It says that environmental justice incorporates the principle of the right of all individuals to be protected from environmental degradation. the grassroots people are the only ones that took notice to the potential problem. That minorities are the impacted more by environmental pollution which can lead to mistreatment by the government. The equity has not been the same across the board putting minorities at risk.…
The author of Mistakes Were Made (but not by me) created the idea that memory is reconstructive and source confusion to criminal justice. Our memory helps to recreate old moments from our life so they will not be lost because our brain only selects highlights from an event, it is reconstructive in this way. Source confusion can be known as not being able to distinguish your memory that came from later information. Criminal justice is related back to source confusion because we often justify our own actions and asks ourselves various questions such as; “I said that?’ or “ I did that?” Many of us make implications when we are trying to remember an event from the past when we are trying to answer those questions.…
Mother Teresa once said, “I can do things you can not, you can do things that I can not; together we can do great things.” When it comes to unity people must stand together and be united to overcome any difficulties. In our country, United States, we are facing a very hard time in getting the country in a very beautiful shape because many people are ruining the hypothesis of being united. In addition, when it comes to how we can build our country and make it more successful, people often believe that the government only responsible source for doing that. However, this is wrong because as citizens, we also have to contribute in a very big part in makeing our country prosperous. The formula of unity is complicated to most people in our world, that is why our country is seemingly more…
