Analyzing Jan Allison's Poem 'Just Dessernts'

Food is a huge part of the Indian culture and it is extremely important to have table manners. We have food in every occasion, whether it be a small birthday party or a grand wedding, we always have food around. I have grown up with food being all around me and having been taught table manners from a small age. So i decided that i would base my whole anthology on Food and manners around while eating food. I’ve created this anthology for my family who loves cooking, eating food and not to forgetting out manners around the table.

“Just Desserts” by Jan Allison, brings back a memory of my Aunty and i at a restaurant. We were super hungry and excited to eat something after a long day. The waiter came to take our order and my Aunty said “ one cheese
It reminds me of my cousin because, when i read this poem is sounds to me as if she sitting right next to me and is talking to me. Every word that comes out of her mouth is about food and this poem is about food. This poem is very detailed and explores different types of food.

“Eating Out” by Ursula Askham Fanthorpe, is one of the poems in my anthology because, it shows the strict upbringing and experiences of fine dining at a posh restaurant. Another reason i chose this poem was because, it has a negative perspective to it. Which shows that when talking about things related to food it is important you know you table manners. This poem relates to a family friends who used to never use her table manners, when we went to a restaurant. It got so out of hand, that her parents once didn't bring her because, she never use her table manners.

The reason I chose “Table Manners” by Gelett Burgess because it tells readers what not to do while eating around the table. This poem is important to me because, one of my Uncle taught me some table manners by reading me this poem to me, when i was small.
