Analyzing Moana 2012 Children's Animation

Moana is a 2016 children’s animation produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. Moana is about a strong willed girl who is part of a Polynesian village. She is chosen by the ocean to reunite a mystical relic with a goddess. Moana sets sail on an epic journey to restore the heart of the goddess the Polynesians worship named Te Fiti. Te Fiti is now a fierce and angry goddess they call Te Ka. Te Fiti’s heart was stolen by a demi god named Maui. On Moana’s journey, she has to find stubborn Maui and convince him to return the heart. Moana and Maui have to tackle a few obstacles on their way but, manage to come together and work as a team. Moana restores the heart transforming Te Ka back to her old self. For an animation, it is very uplifting. It gives children someone to look up to. All through the movie, Moana shows bravery and courage. At one point, Moana is tested, but she over comes her own thoughts of failing. She is determined in completing her destiny and shows great strength doing so. The song she sings helps to remind her what keeps her going. “How far I’ll go”, is an absolutely lovable song featured in Moana. It is like a reminder to Moana that she is capable of doing what she wants to do. For example, setting sail on an open ocean because she is drawn to it. Moana has such a passion for the ocean and the songs ties them together. Another song that catches your attention, is “Your welcome”. This song is sang by Maui. It gives the audience an in site on Maui. This song tells what Maui has been through on his life journey. It helps explain his character as well. The setting with water, sand, and sun is captivating. An ocean setting makes you fall in love. This really brings the story to life. There is such a powerful connection between the ocean and nature. Again, it is uplifting and really brings the plot
