Analyzing Suyuan Woo's Song
I chose this song because the tone and the lyrics was strikingly similar to scene’s mood and the events. This tone of the song is soft and sad, mourning mood.
The lyrics of the song, “I’m so tired of being here suppressed by all childish fears.” will begin to sing as the scene of Suyuan Woo was mourning for her lost twin daughters as she riding the truck with several people to Chungking. The lyrics, “…..suppressed by all childish fears.”, can be indicated to Suyuan was overwhelmed with her thoughts and fears that she regretted saving herself “for no reason” and was thinking, “… it was now too late to go back and save her babies.” Next, other lyrics, “These wounds won’t seem to be heal, this pain is just too real” will be rolling as the scene of Suyuan Woo at the hospital and became skinny and pulling her hair out easily. The lyrics, “These wounds won’t seem to be heal” stipulate to the scene of Suyuan became thin because her mentalness thoughts impact her so much. “This pain is just too real”, this lyrics can be also specify to Suyuan’s reason to became thin because the wound of losing her twin daughters impact her very much.

The lyrics, “And I held your hand through all these years” indicated to that Suyuan will have many thoughts that lingered to her for many years that her daughters will be safe and take care by the kind-hearted person. Next lyrics, “….but you still have all of me” also indicated that the valuables and the picture that Suyuan left to her twin daughters will show them what she and her family look

The entire poem is written with a tone of sadness or depression. This evokes the senses of the reader by being able to sense how the girl is feeling and see how the words of others affect her. It can be pictured, this little girl who plays with the Barbie doll and it is just a toy, but to others it is the appearance that society wants and she soon realizes that when a fellow classmate hurts her with mean words. She can not go on with the fear that everyone sees her as imperfect or flawed, so in the end she gives up on trying and eventually gives up on herself. A simile in the poem, “Her good nature wore out/like a fan belt,” the message here is that she has given up on everything.…

The second verse begins by saying that ‘you’ (the mother) is at zero end (of the tape) and goes on to give us the idea that the child is unwinding the tape, taking measurements, reporting back to her and then unreeling the tape again. This is metaphoric of the mother being his ‘base’ and him, living his life, returning to her and leaving her again. The unreeling tape is referred to as ‘unreeling years’ which I take to mean the memories that the mother and son hold. This is illustrated further by the use of the words; ‘Anchor. Kite.’ meaning that she is the steady influence and he is young and free.…

For example, Wang Leehom’s song “at Mei Bian” is based on the Tang Xianzu’s masterpiece “The Peony Pavilion” in Ming Dynasty. The story talked about the lady Du Liniang and the scholar Liu Mengmei’s life and death love. The pop song cleverly combines the graceful singing tunes of Kun opera with rap, which made the music more fresh and melodious. To attract more listeners, it is possible to combine classical opera with modern pop music, and this innovation is inevitable. Wang Leehom gives the song a new soul with the romantic love story by combining two different art forms.…

Many parents/teachers believe conforming to society is important in order to promote maximum efficiency in human behavior. This idea is only partially true because children can conform to society in a negative way. In For Today I am a Boy, Kim Fu’s purpose is to make the argument that young children should be taught that conforming to negative social pressure causes them to have involuntary actions and irrational thinking. Social pressure can have a negative connotation because of the way it promotes racial bias for people with accents, justification of physical harm, and the way it forces people to commit crimes such as rape. Fu wants the reader to understand that if children are taught the effects of conforming to negative social pressure…

Lieder ohne Worte (Song without Words) is written by the Romantic composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. It is a collection of forty-eight short lyrical piano pieces of markedly song-like character that he wrote at various periods of his life between 1809 and 1847. They are well suited to the study of musical form because of their artistic value. Op. 19b, No. 1 Andante con moto in E major was written in 1830 and is the first in the collection. The piece is in the key of E major and modulates from E to B to G major.…
