Analyzing the Healthcare Policy
Summary When healthcare is the topic of discussion, there are many pros and cons dealing with this controversial factor. Healthcare is solely government controlled, although significantly opinionated individuals of higher power and status play a major role in the decision making aspect, in regards to healthcare. Influence is essential to many authoritative figures to base and make their judgments/ decisions. A plan for better healthcare was exercised by both President Clinton and President Obama; nevertheless, due to a lack of support (influence) both plans for healthcare suffered. However, the idea sought to create better plans for individualistic needs of healthcare and was later recognized as “necessary”. In March 2010, Congress passed the law. Eventually, Obama gained a great support system, and the healthcare plan was enacted due in large part to those who supported. Johnathan Cohn stated,” Obama was influenced by Bush’s failed attempts.”(pg. 17, 2010) Obama studied Bush’s process that helped him form and administer a more structured implementation of the new healthcare plan.
The new healthcare policy made insurance mandatory for all Americans, which was an excellent idea. Many Americans feel that healthcare is something that everyone should have. Some people may be unable to afford it, but there are programs designed to help those less fortunate. These programs are mainly government supported and assisted. Medicaid is a form of government assisted insurance and programs as such are helpful but limited. In my opinion, some insurance or even limited insurances is better than none at any case. Obama was determined to pursue the healthcare plan despite the failed efforts by Clinton and Bush. Obama was criticized greatly, but he continued to carry out his plan in the most effective way possible. Insurance is a
