“Not happiness, or everlasting love?” The man said, “I already am happy with my life.” “Okay then. The northernmost house will be yours by tomorrow at noon.” the turtle said, confidently, and slid into the water and off to sea. The man quickly walked home, whistling. The walls were an unique color he loved. Later that night, he got ready to cook a nice dinner of fried fish and grilled vegetables. The oven took forever to heat up. The table had uneven legs. The plates were cheap. The tap water came slow and only cold and dirty. The house did not live up to his expectation. The man ran to the beach and looked for the turtle. He found him and asked him why he punished

In The Beach Boys song “God Only Knows,” the singer declares his everlasting love and contemplates life without his partner. Several literary elements demonstrate that the lyrics could very well serve as poetry. The song is told from the first person point of view. "Poets who write in the first-person point of view allow the reader to experience the imagery of a poem through the direct perception of the narrator" (Cascio). These lyrics are written so tenderly and deeply that you feel like a private and intimate moment is personally shared with you.…

Based on the evidences and its mood from the poem, I think the family builds windmills in their total new circumstances. In the last stanza of the poem, Magic Island by Cathy Song says, “It is a day an immigrant and his family might remember, the husband taking off his shirt to sit like an Indian before the hot grill.” In these lines of the poem the author displays how the man and his family reacts to their quite unfamiliar situation. As an immigrant, life in their new stage might not be as great as it was in their home country. They might have faced numerous strenuous obstacles and hardships in their new environment.…

In the story “The World on the Turtle’s Back”, the writer uses a variety of techniques to show the parallels between other creation myths, and how the world came to be as it is today.
