Ancien Mistakes
All over the world from America to Asia every 7th grader should know that making mistakes is no the key point to discoveries. Mistakes are not key point to discovery because mistakes can be harmful. Mistakes are also time consuming. You can be doing the same the mistake forever and ever. That is time consuming. Some may argue that mistakes are a key point to discovery too.

Mistakes are not key point to discovery because mistakes can be harmful .For example, Mistakes can be harmful to the environment. In the passage, “Lost Cities, Lost Treasures” two archeologists Heinrich Schliemann and Frank Calvert were digging for artifacts and the completely destroyed an ancient city that could have been observed in more detail by other archeologists. Calvert and Schliemann were being so careless and dug down too far that they destroyed ancient Troy. Now no one can observe the ancient city of Troy because Calvert and Schliemann made a mistake. For example, imagine a forest getting dug up for artifacts because there are supposedly

You don’t want to be doing the same mistake over and over again. That is just a waste of time. In the text, “How a Melted Bar of Chocolate Changed Our Kitchens” it took scientists over 20 years of making mistakes to make the first real microwavable oven. Now that is over 20 years of making mistakes! This means doing something wrong over and over again for 20 years! Another example, in the passage “In Praise of Careful Science” it states “Don’t be fooled: Accidents don’t usually leads to perfect discoveries. Most scientist work for decades and make very few mistakes but when they do make mistakes, they usually cause problems not progress.” Imagine yourself writing an essay and not doing it right the first time and having to do it 20 other times to make it perfect while you could have done it right the first time. That is probably how the scientist felt trying to make the microwavable oven perfect for 20

“The scientific enterprise is all about failure; I mean, you learn so much from failure. And you learn almost nothing from success.” This scientist is stating that one cannot gain any knowledge without failing. This is not true. Once one obtains success one now knows exactly what to do to achieve success, thus opening doors and further experiences for them. The novel “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloot, due to the success of tissue culture researcher Dr. George Gey can further dispute this quote. His success in tissue culture led to further discoveries, and became one of the most important breakthroughs in modern medicine. The world was able to learn from his success.…

    1. Until quite recently, most American history textbooks taught that before Europeans invaded the Americas Indians were savages who lived in isolated groups and had so little impact on their environment that it remained a pristine wilderness. We now know from scientific discoveries that this account was wrong. What is the effect of learning that most of what we have assumed about the past is "wrong in almost every aspect," as Mann puts it on page 4?…

This is true. But the passage states, “Most mistakes do not lead directly to discoveries” (“In Praise of Careful Science”). This is not true. With every mistake someone makes they are making at least one discovery that is not to do that again because it doesn’t work. If there is a mistake that does not make you learn that, then it is most likely not a mistake. In Lost Cities, Lost Treasure, Schliemann may be greedy and dishonest but he discovered at least two things when he ruined that site. One, that finding Troy that way wasn’t going to work. Two, that the Troy the Greek poet Homer described was somewhere else and that it actually existed. In How a Melted Bar of Chocolate Changed Our Kitchens, Percy made the mistake of having a chocolate bar in his pocket when he was standing next to the Magnetron and he learned at least two things. One, don’t stand next to the Magnetron with a chocolate bar in your pocket. Two, that you can make food like that. Whether the discovery was small or large with every mistake you learn…

“It has long been observed and frequently cited as a case of technological ‘devolution…”, stated Binford – citing Griffin – to start of his argument (220). He explained how the Old Copper complex in the Americas was baffling to anthropologists because it was inefficient to the point that it appeared to be a regression in technology. After giving some basic archaeological knowledge in his introduction, Binford was able to take a couple of pages to describe archaeology’s role in unravelling the mystery. Although he wasn’t able to come up with a definite answer, he was able to give an explanatory theory based on the information that they had, referring to it as more of a “systematic frame of reference,” (223-224). Binford couldn’t come to a conclusion, but he proved – at least in my opinion – that archaeology can be valuable to…

The process of archeology is important for the study of ancient world history. It is the one way humans can learn more about their past. By discovering ancient bones, we are able to decipher what life was like and learn how humans evolved to who they are today. Think about it, as a child you made plenty of mistakes. You would get punished and idealy never make the same mistake again. In comparison, 19th century Scottish athour Samuel Smiles quoted, "We learn wisdom from failure much more than from success. We often discover what will do by finding out what will not do: and probably he who never made a mistake never made a discovery." So in addition to never making the same mistake again, refer to "Lost Cities, Lost Treasure.…

In my time in the field of archaeology I’ve come across my share of wondrous and unexplainable discoveries. Ancient ruins built by long lost civilisations were nothing that frightened me even if they were filled with horrible mummies that had been rotting in their tombs for aeons. For me this was the epitome of excitement, hunting down the last remnants of people that had their legacy buried by the sands of time. This was the case until I met Professor James Kibler, a respected Archaeologist that claimed to have found traces of ruins beneath the new England city of Arkham.…

In some companies they have a 1 plus 1 equals 4 rule. This means one mistake one time equals forever. This rule falls under the one-mistake cow. While this rule may work for some, for others it is the exact opposite. Bill gates went out of his way to hire people who had made mistakes, he felt that they were brave and could adapt to their surrounding as they change. The only good type of mistake is those that come from trying something new, not from…
