They surprising acquired a diversity of clothing options. The different styles and types of the fabrics depended on who was wearing it and the type of function. There were many types of garments, acquired from the basic tunic. The unisex tunic varied in length according to a certain someone’s job and gender. The Greeks possessed various outfits such as the Chiton, Peplos, Himation, ect. A Chiton, a type of garment worn by the Greek men, made out of lighter linen material. A Chiton, worn by men outdoors during the hotter days, can display over either shoulders or just one. When worn over one shoulder, they say it’s referred to as an Exomie. This applied for horseback riding, labor, or exercise. A Peplos is a rectangular shaped garment that you can secure with pins, buttons, or brooches. This was also worn as a full length garment, more on the conservative side. Another source of clothing, which helped fight those cold winter nights, would be the Himation. It resembles a cloak in a way. Produced by heavy wool and fashioned by a rectangular material, draped over a person like a Roman toga. The garment served a dual purpose, especially for men. Soldiers compromised and used them as a warm blanket during the cold nights in the wars. Greek woman wore epiblema, a cloak mostly worn by women in this time. One of the most influential civilizations in regards to modern-day fashion is Greece. Most award shows are always influenced by Grecian inspired garments and dresses. The draperies of the Grecian inspired dresses are most flattering or complementary with modern day fashion. Modern-day Grecian-inspired dresses are comparable the Peplos referred to earlier. In addition dresses, jewelry, sandals, and headbands are inspiration for modern day fashion. For example, Gladiator sandals caused commotion in spring of 2014. Just like The Gladiator sandals, headbands have made a comeback as well. Many celebrities spotted sporting the ancient Greek inspired head wear. From many celebrities such as Paris Hilton and Klohe Kardashian seen wearing these fashion accessories. This brings the demand of more Greek inspired fashion. Referring back to the gladiator sandals, a company on Instagram sell Greek sandals. These sandals look as if they were actually worn by the Greeks. Other celebrities from Emma Watson to Rihanna wore these sandals during the summer of 2014. Many high fashion companies adapted to the ancient Greeks in many ways such as logos, clothing ideas, and meaning.
