Introduction
The Roman people were the most successful ancient civilization. One reason why the Romans were a great civilization is that they conquered a lot of land with their great military, and weapons. My second reason is that Romans had a really good numbers. My last reason is that they had really good inventions.
Roman Army
The land the Romans conquered was Britannia, Egypt, Spain, France, Greece, the Middle East, and the North African coastal region. The weapons the Romans used to conquer all these countries were siege engines. They also used bows, but their main weapons were spears, swords, and daggers. The Roman army also had to fight the gladiators led by Spartacus.

At first when the Roman people were fighting Spartacus, they were losing because Spartacus was going to less protected towns. Then the Romans put Crassus in control of the army. While Crassus was in control every, 1 of 10 men from each consul’s army was executed by their own legionaries if they fought badly. In Crassus’s first attack he failed miserably, but in the spring of 71 BC everything for Spartacus fell apart. Then on April 71 BC the last battle between Spartacus and Crassus . Crassus’s army was trying to build trenches to block Spartacus and his army with their cavalry. Spartacus’s strategy was to use his cavalry to attack the missile-throwers and archers, and after he did that he would kill Crassus himself and hope to scatter his army. Spartacus is said to have hacked down two centurions in this final attempt; however, it was in vain. There are varying accounts about Spartacus’s death but they all end with him being surrounded and
