Beforehand, Warhol had seen the silver paint and tin foil at Billy Name's apartment and decided that his factory would have the exact same design. Tin foil, silver and fractured mirrors were installed so that the entire factory was coated in solver. Warhol worked with a team to make sculptures, silkscreen portraits, shoes and other commissioned work.
Before long, he started to attract a following. The Factory became the hippest hangout available for creative types, artists and amphetamine users. The people at the Factory were nicknamed the Warhol Superstars. These superstars designed silkscreens and lithographs with Warhol directing the entire process.
With his exceptional success, Andy Warhol needed a new place to create his unique brand of artwork. He moved to the the sixth floor of the Decker Building in New York City. Working day and night, Warhol transformed mass-produced images like the Campbell soup can into works of art. As his fame rose, he realized that he needed even more workers to produce the silkscreens. The Factory hired musicians, adult film performers, free-thinkers, drag queens, addicts and socialites to step up production. Known as the Warhol Superstars, this team played a key role in creating the Warhol legacy.
