Catalog Description: Writing assignments emphasize argument and persuasion, advanced rhetorical strategies, analysis/synthesis, and research methods.
Course Prerequisites: A grade of “C” or higher in CWP 101 or its equivalent. or
Score of 3 on the AP Language and Composition or Literature and Composition exam, or score 5 on the International Baccalaureate Group1/Language AI Higher Level exam.
Students must achieve a grade of "C" or better in CWP courses in order to fulfill the Basic Communication Requirement. A grade of “C-“ will NOT fulfill the Basic Communication Requirement.
Course Overview: You are a scholar. Your job is to be curious, pose questions, look for answers, and present your findings to the community of scholars. My job is to help you.
This semester, you will design your own final project and work to complete it. You will face challenges in defining your research questions, designing appropriate research methods, and situating your work within a larger body of scholarship. You will also face challenges in finding, interpreting, citing, and synthesizing information. We will build upon skills and strategies already learned in CWP 101, such as analysis, synthesis, and archival and primary research methods. Heavier instructional emphasis will be placed on argument, persuasion, advanced rhetorical strategies.
