Animal Farm
Animal Farm is a fable that represents Stalinism in Russia. Also, it can be related to how many world leaders, and politicians get away with things that others don't because of their position in the world. I think the main theme is that absolute power corrupts absolutely which we see once the pigs become identical to the humans at the end of the book. I think that Orwell is trying to tell us that even people who start out very idealistic can become corrupted. You can see this in how the pigs start out with Old Major's vision but are exactly like the people (oppressive) by the end of the book. At the start of the novel, the pigs were tormented, and worked hard like the other animals. But, at the end (after they had created all the rules) they were just as bad as the humans at the first. Another theme that I see is where history is bound to repeat itself if one is ignorant to the past. The animals had disregarded their prior knowledge of the events that had occurred, and the emotions that conveyed those events, so history was set into the same cycle once again. Never be ignorant to the past, or you can't help better yourself in the future. On the Animal Farm, no one was suppose to live in the house with the humans, take credit of the work of others, sleep comfortably on the beds, etc; But, however the pigs allowed themselves to because they were in control, and thought that they were so much higher than everyone else. But an important thing to remember is that Orwell was very purposely focusing on the individuals involved in the rise to power.

I feel like the quote “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” Is the perfect quote for this book it shows just how things work. How we say all men are equal, but we know that some men are higher than others, and will receive more respect because of which they know or what they do. Another quote that I thought stood out among them all is “Never listen when they tell you that Man and

The last sentence in the book Animal Farm relates to the book in so many ways. First I must say that in the end the pigs became what they hate. The pigs slowly became just like Jones throughout the book. They even broke their own thought up commandments and changed them. They believed they were more important than all the rest of the animals on Animal Farm. Napoleon became the leader and worked the animals even harder than Jones did. The pigs wanted things to be better yet they ended up being the same as humans.…

George Santayana’s quote “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it” proves to be true in relation to Animal Farm by George Orwell, for the animals forgot the way they were treated by Jones, allowing Napoleon to treat them just the same. The animals strived for a communist society where “All animals are equal”, but in the end, they ended up in a totalitarian society ruled by Napoleon and the rest of the pigs.…

As soon as Old Major dies, the pigs take the role of organising and managing all of the animals. At first they remain loyal to their fellow animals, but the moment they are faced with something they want, they use their superior intellect to deceive the other animals. Because the animals don’t know any better, they trust what the pigs tell them. The pigs also limit the education offered to the lower animals by destroying the children’s book they use to learn to read and write immediately after they’re done with it. The pigs use their intelligence to oppress the animals and force them into submission. On the other end of the scale, the animals are extremely ignorant to what goes on around them. Simply, the pigs were leaders and the animals were followers. The lower animals where never the ones to put forward resolutions to a problems it was always the pigs, they knew how to vote but nothing past that. They were continually ignorant to any decisions, including ones that harmed…

The book Animal Farm is a book that retells history just in a story, and if people do not study history and the past then history could be repeated which would be a bad thing, in this scenario. “Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it”. Says George Santayana a philosopher, essayist, poet and novelist. What this quote means is that if people do not study history they will repeat it. An example of this would be when Napoleon Bonaparte attacked Russia and lost due to the cold weather that his soldiers were not prepared for. Years later Hitler did the same thing, and lost for the same reason his soldiers were not fit to fight during the cold winters.…

English political language has become deceptive, unclear and uncreative enabled by writers and speakers who use confusing words to appeal to their audiences. In his essay “Politics and the English Language,” George Orwell states “The English Language is in a bad way”; He uses “Animal Farm” to show practical examples of his claim through the Pigs’ use of dying metaphors, pretentious diction and meaningless words.…

In the Russian Revolution, blood purges can be defined as the elimination of Joseph Stalin’s opposition or anyone who criticized or opposed the Bolsheviks. Stalin believed that he was threatened by the people inside Russia who disliked him or the government. The purges were not planned at all and were random. Victims of them included anyone who had sympathy, acquaintance, or association with the Trotskyites (the enemy), or anyone who doubted or opposed Stalin’s government. Stalin would hunt down any person who was even the slightest bit suspicious (The Great Purges 1 and 3).…

The first thing that the animals changed about the farm is the name. They changed the name of the farm from Manor farm, to Animal farm. They all learn the song "beasts of England" that Old major had taught them before the rebellion. They have also made up 7 commandments that all animals on the farm must live by. They use the phrase "four legs good, two legs bad," to remember the 7 commandments. They use this because not all animals on the farm can read, but sense the rebellion a lot of them have learned, or have learned few letters of the alphabet. The pigs can read and write perfectly. They have made the majority of animals to believe that they are the most intelligent animals on the farm, so they should be in charge. Instead of Mr. Jones telling the animals what to do, the pigs make the decisions. All the animals are happy because they get to live their lives without the humans. The animals work for the pigs without questioning their authority. They are happy because the pigs watch as the hard working animals (like boxer for example) does all the work. Boxer now believes that Napoleon is always right, so he does whatever he wishes. Some animals decide to leave the farm (Molly for example), but most animals have stayed loyal to the farm and put forward a lot of hard work and dedication.…

Napoleon uses Squealer to be his mouthpiece for propaganda. Napoleon, Squealer and Snowball first codify Old Major's sayings into "Animalism". This give the animals some kind of guide and explanation for changes made to the Animal Farm. However, Napoleon is not opposed to changing some of the tenets of animalism to suit his own purposes. Using Squealer as his voice, he has explanations for why the pigs need the milk, and why the commandments keep changing. His biggest coup is changing history to include the idea that Snowball was really an enemy of the revolution and never received the order of "Animal Hero, First Class." Napoleon also has Squealer teach the animals a new song to replace Old Major's original anthem. The new song explains why the pigs are walking on their hind legs. Like all good propaganda, the changes are instituted slowly with just enough time in between to allow the animals to absorb the change and not to question the next change.…

In the fictional story Animal Farm, Orwell uses his farm to symbolize the communist system during the Russian Revolution. The original intention of overthrowing the farm owner, Mr. Jones, is not entirely wrong. Nearly all of Mr. Jones principles and harsh mistreatment of the animals proves to the reader that communism is not equality, but just another form of unfairness. The rulers of the farm were typically the pigs and dogs because they were the most intelligent, because of this dictatorship; it caused them to turn on their fellow animals just to remain in power. This was a reference to Stalin because he was a man who killed many of his people in order to maintain his power in Russia. Communism was creating many issues with society because everyone sought for power. The author, George Orwell symbolizes the corruption of the government through a fairytale titled Animal Farm and also shows the meaning of the text through social issues, such as Communism.…

To further this example of the allegory used in Animal Farm and its' similarities, the pigs have certain laws. In both worlds, the actual and the farm, two people have the same ideas concerning how a society would better run and be a more equal place. On the farm, a pig named Major creates laws that every animal must abide by. In the real world Marx creates many ideals, which would then create a more equal environment for people. Just as what happens in the real world the pigs on the farm take these ideals and twist them around to benefit only the elite in a society. In the novel, the pigs take the laws of Major and turn them around so that they can do whatever they want and still keep the general public ignorant on how the leaders are abusing the law. Such as the law "all animals are equal"(Orwell 6) the pigs took that law and added "although some are more equal then others"(Orwell 8). This allows them to be a member of elite and it still can be within the law and no citizen objects to it.…

portrays the theme of abuse of power. When the pigs declare themselves leaders if animal farm, they say that they will run a proper, equal farm. Josef Stalin abused his power as leader of Russia. Yet, the pigs prove that power is too much for them. They start taking advantage of the other animals. They started corrupting small things at first then they realized that they could not be stopped so they took full advantage of the animals. “Twelve voices were shouting in anger, and they were all alike. No question, now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs? The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.” This quote shows how the pigs started out by running an animal friendly farm, but eventually they began to resemble the corrupt leaders they revolted against.…
