Animal Farm by George Orwell is a dystopian novel that illustrates the dangers of a totalitarian government and Stalinism, as well as the rewriting of history.
One day animals on Manor Farm rebel against their owner, taking over and driving the humans away. They establish their own system with commandments that go against humans (Like any. Neighboring human farms begin to rebel, but the animals always win the fights. As time passes, some animals begin to turn. Many characters in Animal Farm were based on people in real life. Lenin and Karl Marx serve as inspiration for Old Major. Joseph Stalin serves as inspiration for Napoleon. Lenin and Leon Trotsky where the inspiration for Snowball. Vyacheslav Molotov makes up the inspiration for Squealer. Adolf Hitler also shows partial inspiration for Mr. Frederick. Later in the book, Napoleon's farm purge goes off of The Great Purge (which Stalin caused). Napoleon ordering the dogs to slaughter animals that have wronged parallels Stalin ordering his followers to kill “bad men.” The entire concept of animalism (an animal based society) has Nazi and Stalinism roots, because it turns into a dictatorship by the end of the book.
