The Abuse Of Power In George Orwell's Animal Farm

Joseph Stalin prosecuted a reign of terror. He practiced executions, labor camps, and persecution in the postwar USSR. He suppressed all dissent and anything that had any foreign influence throughout Eastern Europe. In 1949, he led the Soviets into the nuclear age by exploding an atomic bomb. The story, “Animal farm” is an allegory based on the Russian revolution and when Russia became a communist government. Every character represents someone from that time. For example, the boar Napoleon represents Joseph Stalin, the dictator who was cruel to his citizens, Old major represents Vladimir Lenin, who started the revolution and finally Boxer, the working horse represents the working class. In the story it is demonstrated how a person changes ones gaining power. A person cannot adhere to their core beliefs once they acquire power
and they begin to abuse their power.

An initial belief of communism is that everyone should share power. Meaning no one is the leader, or in charge. A person cannot adhere to their personal beliefs before their rise to power because they do anything to keep that power.
