Experiments on animals for testing are causing a numerous amount of them to suffer from dehydration and depression. While tests may benefit humans, they still have a large impact on the lives of animals. Whether these animals are companions or from the wild, they still suffer from a multitude of experimental substances being tested on them. These tests can affect how the animal will act for the remainder of their lives. Scientists may think testing on animals is useful since they obviously can’t understand what’s being put in and on their body and can only use their body language to express how they’re feeling. Having said that, animals are being mistreated during animal testing and it’s inhumane due to the lack of care and protection …show more content…
In the 1950s, scientists used various animals such as, dogs, cats, monkeys, and rabbits to test the use of anesthesia. In early Greece, scientists performed tests on live animals. They mostly examined sensory and motor nerves and tendons in order to better understand their functional differences. Even in the nineteenth century in the United States, animal research for drug testing became an issue of concern for citizens. In the past, it shows that scientists tested on animals while they were alive which is even more of a crime because testing on an animal that’s alive is a cruel and unusual …show more content…
According to the Animals in Science/ Research, “In research and testing, animals are subjected to experiments that can include everything from testing new drugs to being infected with diseases, poisoned by toxicity testing, burning skin, and causing brain damage. It can include protocols that cause severe suffering, such as long-term social isolation, electric shocks, withholding of food and water, etc.” (Animals). This shows how scientists don’t provide them anything to survive and it affects the wellbeing of the animals because they often suffer from these harmful drugs. “Animal research involves the production, use, and/or discarding of materials and supplies such as food, caging (including disposable caging), chemicals, excrement, bedding, waste feed, needles, syringes, unused or expired medications and drugs, and other supplies and equipment” (Campaigns). Even though the scientists do provide them food, they only give small portions so they could continue on with the experiment. This shows how unhappy these animals are because they can’t live free and they don’t know what will happen to them during the
