Comparison and Contrast of “No one writes to the Colonel” and “Another Gulmohar Tree”

Family is something where you can earn love and respect and you can pass your arguments without having any standard or if you are the head of the family then you can make important decisions for your family. But at that time you have to think about other members of family whether they willing to obey your decisions or not. If they are not willing to obey your decisions then you have to listen to their arguments or you have to convince them otherwise you are going to lose your respect as well as you are going to lose your family. You have to careful because sometime your family members can compromise but sometime then cannot compromise because of circumstances.

He was born in Karachi, Pakistan and he is the author of five collections of short stories. “Another Gulmohar Tree” is love fiction and has a great combination of different societies and also has a great comparison of Pakistani Society with west society. In this novel author firstly described some short stories which are not interlinked with each other and but with a beautiful way writer relate these stories. After that writer take turn to the second portion of the story where he described the family relation between a young couple, a Pakistani young man named “Usman” and lady from London named “Lydia” who gave company to Usman when he was in London and everybody was stranger to …show more content…
During all these circumstances Colonel’s wife ask him to sell that cock which their son used for fight. One of the Colonel Friend as well as neighbor was willing to buy Cock at the start of the novel when Colonel was not willing to sell it. When colonel’s wife forced him to sell it and with money they would fulfill their needs but colonel refuse and said that it’s their son last thing.

Although he was not willing to sell cock but he and his wife were going to die due to hunger and he was in need of money and when his friend saw his situation he wants to get benefit from it and he went for his meeting.
