Anthony William Douglass: The Stewardship Of Knowledge
The Stewardship of Knowledge

Anthony William Douglass once said, “Knowledge comes from learning. Wisdom comes from living.” 2 Peter 2:20-22 is the Biblical embodiment of that quote. 2 Peter 2:20-21 says, “If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them.” Our stewardship of wisdom is very important and this verse is also because there is a lot at risk if one believes that they

That being said, knowledge of God and His Word can be very powerful but they are meaningless if it is not accompanied by faith. Knowledge is a gift and it can be a very effective way to share God's word effectively and it is something we should all pursue in our study of God’s word. We also must remember that with Biblical knowledge comes responsibility. If one does not follow the path of righteousness after studying God and His commands it is a choice.

We also should not assume people are saved solely based on their words or actions. We are constant testimonies for God. In a Christian school it is simple to sit idle because we look around and see all of these good people attending a Christian school and accepting benedictions at the end of chapel. We can not assume someone's heart or measure people's relationship with God. 1st Samuel 16:7 says,”But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." Therefore, always lead by example and represent God by showing his love, joy, and strength to everyone you

Today, humanity is still perishing from his own foolishness to reject God’s message and considers the thought of an existing supreme being God and His message as foolishness. The cross still presents a stumbling block for those who hear but whose eyes are still blind to the truth. God is the only one who can give sight to the blind and life to the spiritually dead. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having knowledge and wisdom, but one has to know that salvation is not in their wisdom, but in the wisdom of God’s message. Jesus Christ is the only sign one needs to see for salvation, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. True wisdom is in the person of Jesus Christ. It is God’s way of doing for man what man could not do for himself. It is through the cross that the curse from the fall of man is removed, and one is freed from the penalty of sin, the power of sin, and ultimately, the presence of…

He should be our example. (Phil. 2:5: your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.) This is about learning the humility of Christ in our daily lives. We as Christians are to pattern our lives after the perfect example of Christ. He sacrificed himself for others and also serves others. Christ’s experience proves that exaltation always follows humiliation (1 Peter 5:6). He that exalts himself shall be humbled. There is no joy and peace in Pride and self seeking. Only Christ himself can give that joy and peace when we have the submissive mind. Christ like humility is the key to unity. The more we are committed to Christ and living for him, the more we will be committed to each other. Taking others to be more important than ourselves. Thus, we will be able to share the love of Christ to the…

In Colossians 1:28 Paul writes, “We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.” This tells us that part of out job as Christians is educating others so that they can be perfect in Christ. The audience hears development in each of these conceptual links. The knowledge of Christ appears first as the past revelation and gift of Christ (1:3-4), through which believers received everything necessary for life and piety. The next section (1:5-9) describes knowledge of Christ as the beginning and end of the present pursuit of virtue, a necessity of the life of faith. Finally, the future entrance into Christ’s kingdom represents the consummation of knowledge of Christ…

In this part of the book “The Holy Longing” talks about being an active member of the community. For all us in order to love God, we must love each other, and work for the welfare of others. Christians are called to strive for the development of our community. As Christians, we are required to live and teach the values of generosity, compassion, tolerance and peace to our community. Thus, it is important to be active agents in our community.…

One of my favorite verse of all time is Proverbs 3: 5-8, and I believe it summarizes this paper perfectly. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make strait your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes’ fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your…

In 2 Timothy 2:15, it states “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing of the word.”(KJV) A person studies to “shew thyself approved” so that they will be knowledgeable of the scripture. We cannot preach or teach the word to someone if we do not know it ourselves. We have to know, live, and breathe the word in preparation in our daily walk with Christ. We have to be an example to others and that is by first walking on the righteous path with God.…

Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd” (John 10:11, NIV). A Shepherd is a person who tends and guards flocks of sheep. In Bible, Jesus was not a real shepherd; however, he described himself as the Good Shepherd. Christians may question why the Good Shepherd is distinctive from general shepherd. From biblical perspective, the Good shepherd is an emotional image that teaches Christians to follow Jesus. Through contrasting the Good and bad shepherds, investigating the functions the Good shepherd, and looking at biblical examples of the image of the Good shepherd, God’s intention of teaching Christians is more asserted.…
