Corruption is a complex socio-economic phenomenon which has no single canonical definition. The concept of corruption is ambiguous. Some evidence can be attributed to it without any hesitation while the others are controversial (bribery of public servants, buffet for the press or potential partner).
In business there is no single estimate of bribes, there are different opinions:
"Normal" payment services;
"Dubious" from a moral point of view;
Act that deserves condemnation from the perspective of professional ethics of the free market;
An offense the commission of which should be punished under the law.
Corruption is a general term for a self-serving use of your position in society for personal gain. The objectives set by the law are replaced with the selfish interests of the official embodied in concrete actions and that causes the corruption. It should be noted that it is very rare that the official acts in isolation without the engaging of others in the activity.
As an example there are following forms of corruption:
Abuse of public position or political influence or of post in commerce;
Providing benefits to a third party;
Corruption is carried out in order to obtain any benefit to the officer or a third person;
Corruption harms society (if it is about a public or political figure) or a company (if it is a person holding a position in the field of commerce).
What is the cause of corruption? Most of the researchers of this phenomenon give the following answer: cause of corruption is the government itself, in other words the various constraints, regulatory and supervisory rules imposed on the free economic agents. Assuming that each person maximizes its profits it can be concluded that corruption is a natural economic phenomenon which is connected with the presence of the government.
