Anti Cyber Crime Law
CYBERCRIME LAW Today, cyberspace occurs lots of phenomenon where people are involved. Many of us knew or being informed about the Cyber Crime Law, officially recorded as Republic Act No. 10175 , based on my researched this is a law in the Philippines signed by President Benigno Aquino III on September 12, 2012 aims to fight online pornography, hacking, identify theft and spamming. The question is, do I know what is Cyber Crime Law is for? Am I Anti or Pro Cyber Crime Law?
Many arguments about this issue, some are in favor because they believe that they don’t have the freedom of speech or expressing their feelings and also the most feared part of the Law is that we might get jailed for 12 years. But I, a young internet user is in favor of RA No. 10175 or Cyber Crime Law because this law is actually a protection on us as an individual. And I believe that it is for the betterment of the society. I still have other reasons why I am pro in this law. But what are those? I can give you 3:
First, when someone gets bullied in the internet, there is no written law to stop cyber bully. But by this law this individual would be protected.
Second, how do we stop Cyber Sex when there is no law to prevent it? Cyber Sex has been a rampant ever since the internet can be accessed everywhere. By this law it may help to lessen cyber sex victims’ even non victims.
Lastly, with or without Republic Act No. 10175, this is definitely a crime. You don’t have the right to hack into anything. It’s like you’re going into a house in the middle of the night and trying not to wake up the dogs.
Those are my 3 reasons why I am in favor in this law. Supposedly, I have 5 reasons, but some of them I cannot explain it clearly.
Some people or internet users say that they hate the government because of this law but I think the government is just protecting us from Cyber Bullying and some other reasons. Honestly, at first I am against Cyber Crime but for a while I thought about this law is for the

The bill says they would be prosecuting individuals not groups so the results would not be enough to constitute the time they want the police and government to put into this issue. In source 1 paragraph 7 it states “Cyberbullying might seem somewhat trivial, as it only affects two people: the bully and the victim.” This shows how wasteful this would be, spending hours on one case of a kid who said someone was ugly and then taking up a judge’s time worrying about conviction. With this bill in place the police force’s time seems almost unvalued as you are making them worry about petty insults on the…

Although criminalization for cyberbullying would be an infringement of one’s right to freedom of speech; it does not negate the fact that the victims of these acts feel violated and/or harassed. Today the internet has completely changed the way people communicate with each other. It has changed the people conduct commerce, changed the way people research topics, the way people entertain and the way people break the law (Schmalleger, 2011, p. 70). Many of the crimes that are committed on the internet include: prostitution, drug sales, theft, fraud, conspiracy, bullying, and harassment. As the internet becoming more and more of a dominator factor in how society is driven so has these crimes. Kids are being bullied and harassed by their peers to the point that they are committing suicide. Stopping these acts are hard because it’s very difficult tracking everyone in America’s computer and it’s illegal without the correct warrant and process to monitor someone’s actions. The more that the internet becomes an everyday use for everyday America the more is going to be taken advantage of and break the law. I can see this being beneficial or detrimental to society as a whole. It can be beneficial by connecting the world but also detrimental by someone corrupting and hacking into the world. It’s going to be on the government and us to see how this outcome turns…

As a final point, cyberbullying should be criminalized because criminalizing will act as a deterrent to future bullies and of the way its non-criminalized statute impacts the bullies. First, people who cyberbully others are rarely ever sued, much less charged with a crime. Here is a scenario, there is a child who is about to cyberbully someone. This child knows that it is very unlikely that they will get in trouble with law for this because it is not illegal and cyberbullying is usually not reported anyways, so the child proceeds with the act of cyberbullying. Now, same scenario, but this time cyberbullying is criminalized. That same child will know have to think about how they could get jail time because cyberbullying is illegal, so the child decides to not…
