The piece of work is titled ‘long live Germany.’ It portrays the leader of the Nazi Party prancing in front of a group of his men while lifting up the flag of his party and marching his party to his supposed ‘victory.’ The whole thing looks rather majestic, very much unlike what the true face of these National Socialists is.
You may ask ‘That is all true, but why is it blasphemous?’ Well, not only does it show Hitler rising up above others and making himself look more important, the background is also significant giveaway about what the Nazi’s really wanted this poster to imply. The elaborate beams of heavenly light that are bursting from the dark grey clouds are for an entirely symbolist purpose. As the light spills behind him, urging him forwards, it gives you the eerily similar vibe to Jesus leading his religion to holiness. It is evident that Hitler is suddenly leading the German people to a ‘crusade’ and a revolution. And not only does it imply this, it makes you think that Jesus is actually supporting him and his cause. How does he know this? Has he even spoken to Jesus? Has he been told that his views and opinions are too extreme for anything or anyone on this earth?
Furthermore, a main point on this propaganda is the large eagle that is flying behind him, a simplistic but symbolistic image. It embodies majesty, power and strength, and this relates to the position of the eagle on the poster also, as it represents Hitler having all of these positive qualities looking out for and being behind him.
Now, I have seen Hitler’s speeches and I know quite well how he looks. The interpretation of the man on the poster is more flattering than I have ever seen. His stern, determined expression is sure to catch the public eye; he has his ‘eye on the prize’ aka full tyranny over Germany. The
