Remember going to the doctor’s office as a child? The waiting room filled with other children, toys, televisions, and books. Other children coming out for the door with watery, red eyes but the children are fine. They have a lollipop in one hand and a sticker (of their choice) in the other, but peeking out under their sleeve is a pale band aid. However behind that door is something that saves thousands of lives each year, no not the doctor. This lead up to a movement called the anti-vaccine movement. Unfortunately, these life-threatening diseases are only making a comeback now, and the numbers of the sick child and adults are higher than they have been in the past 20 years. Vaccine benefit humans is so many different ways. Just because people have been vaccinated does not mean the diseases are eliminated the viruses and bacteria that cause illness and death still exist and can be passed on to those who are not protected by vaccines. For example we have had the influenza vaccine for years but every year there is a new strand of the virus because the influenza virus changes structure and shape as it moves around the globe each year.
