'Anyone Who Lived In A Pretty How Town'
How often do you get to read and learn about someone who revolutionised poetry and english and changed it forever! For my poet I chose E.E cummings the reason why I decided to chose him was upon further research and understanding about his growing up and his life really spoke out to me. Being born into a family with liberal parents and as a young adult the influence from World War One really showed upon his writing as in most poems he somewhat talks how the world is going crazy. He actually volunteered in france to work in the maramedic area this was popular during the time especially for people who are pacifists. He chose to become a writer at a young age of child at 8 years old too 22 years old he wrote a poem everyday. By the time he reached …show more content…
The reason why I chose this poem to analyze first was is writing style a revolutionary writer he starts this poem with “anyone lived in a pretty how town” as you can see he started this an uncapitalized letter he uses incorrect punctuation and often run on sentences. This poem refers to the time period when they were going threw the first World War the world was going crazy as he writes the children women and men were sobbing. The world was was in a state of frenzy. Throughout this poem he disregards the use of punctuation and word repetition and order. This is asstonishing for exactly this time period no one did this he was a lone wolf he was criticised extremely harsh during this period for …show more content…
Out of all his poem this is my favorite he invents words and uses phrases that typically would not go. For instance a line that sticks out to me is “what of it we should worry in every language even deafanddumb” this writing is very informal he is a liberal writer and that would have to do because of his parents. This poem is a satirical poem and a pretty much broken sonnet. He talks about certain issues but at the same time remains loyal and a patriot towards his country. This poem uses metaphoric language throughout the poem for example “why talk of beauty what could be more beautiful than these heroic happy dead” This sort of descriptive metaphoric language really makes the poem come to

The poem is written in the past tense, and tells a love story between Anyone and Noone. Only in one stanza is the present tense used, as they "dream their sleep", which is a happy ending to a bittersweet story. The women and men of the town were not concerned with anyone or Anyone. They didn't acknowledge anyone unless the other person benefited them. The children in the town were innocent, so they were able to see the love between Anyone and Noone. As time passed, the children were no longer innocent, they have grown up and become the "women and men". The cycle of birth, childhood, adulthood and decline is very apparent in each stanza. The lovers were at the top of the hierarchy, individuals who were happy and didn't blend in with everyone else. The mundane "women and men" who live a life of inadequacy and lastly, the children, who will become the "women and men" and repeat the cycle of dullness.…

Dear, E.E. Cummings, I have unraveled your poem “anyone lived in a pretty how town”. I really enjoyed the uniqueness of the puzzle you created. The narrator of the story tells the narrative as if they don’t care, moreover, the story itself is about a lot of people not caring. The only people who act out are Anymore and Noone, they fall in love and worry about no one but themselves, as the disregardful outside world continues to repeat the cycle of life and death by no means. Mr. Cummings, I appreciate your use of sound, rhyme scheme, and discrete foreshadowing, it pulls readers in and keeps them reading until the very end, readers, like myself, tend to really enjoy poems with a hidden deeper meaning to them.…

Is it posible to any kind of life but superficial? The way of this world is predictable. The people who change history were different-thats why they were able to change it. George Washington, Martin Luther, the Pilgrims, they didn't follow this world, they stood up against it. The sin and evil in this world is predictable, it all comes from the same source. This is why our Founding Fathers were able to predict what would happen if America left the Consitution and God. They knew the way of man and the world.…

I can clearly picture a young teenage boy, somewhere around eighteen years old stepping off the bus into the big lights of New York City. He is vulnerable and scared of his surroundings; not knowing what he should do. He has no home, nowhere to go but it determined to make this work. He walks down the crowded New York streets stumbling across whores on Seventh Avenue and homeless people for the first time. He has no idea where to go or what to do but he puts his chin up and carriers on in search of a job and a home. It is very hard for me to focus on and relate to most poetry, but this author did a great job of holding my attention and putting me in the scene with the…

In the poem Anyone Lived in a Pretty how Town E. E. Cummings plays with jumbled syntax, a seemingly random rhyme scheme, and the paradox of non-identical repetition to convey his message about the ordinariness of daily life, the passing of time, and the inclusive anonymity of people we encounter in our lives.…

When looking at the capacity of human nature and humanities seemingly many functions, nearly all of human life seems to be centered around vanity and personal gain.…

He uses a lot of words that help to set his tone, and the emotion in the poem. The words he uses have a lot of the same sounds such as maketh, taketh, youth & truth. I found that many of the words in the poem were hard to understand because we do not talk in this form of language anymore. An example of these words would be “while the tides shall ebb and…

In the poem "The Dog and the Scent Bottle" there are examples of his self-regard. This poem explained how his life went up and down and all the problems he had to overcome. It is noted to be "garbage" and was rejected (as he was in life). Another example of his vulgar techniques is found in the poem "Carrion". His idea of transgressed existence is interpreted through a rotting carcass of what appears of what appears to be a mule (p. 157). It 's a great example he uses to express his feelings towards this. His writing is hard to figure out and that 's why you have to read in between the lines.…

He would write with en masse in his mind “The opposite of the celebration of individuality, a principal subject of his lyricism.” (Dendinger 245). On top of all Cummings’s awards, he was labeled as one of the top three modern poets after his style of writing and what he wrote about. However, on…
