In this Junior Research Paper an author really stood out, E.E. Cummings, he was a poet, author, painter, and playwright. Cummings wrote all of his works during the twentieth century from around 1923 to 1958. Most of his works involve things that happen in nature or things that come naturally. His writing is mostly focused on the surrounding of the beautiful things in nature around that constantly remind him to write how he feels about it. He created a generation of poems that lasted with all of his poems still lasting today.

Cummings also seems to emphasize sexuality to his poems in this book of poems. He mentions “Jesus he was a handsome man and what I want to know is how do you like your blueeyed boy Mister Death” (Cummings, 26) This is the type eccentric writing that this critic was mentioning. Just not in this poem but this is a trend of Cummings poems that he uses strange and sexual writing to incorporate into his writing to show emotion. He also is at peace with animals and nature. He is rejoiced in a collection of his poems as he is also at peace with godly figures above him. As he gets disrespected through some of his works he overcomes adversity and shows the people that they were wrong as he was not known at the time as a great poet but he was up and coming and the only one that believed him was himself. His work was historic because he started the “Grasshopper” technique into poetry use as something that poets sometimes use today. He named it the “Grasshopper” technique after his love for being outside and exploring the nature and finding different things to see the world. Cummings used poetry to let out what he was thinking inside what’d he’d seen or felt needed to be said as he has over one hundred different types of works that are just as good and researched as the
