Ap Lang Thesis
I like this because it is straight situation which includes the writer’s thoughts and moods. Most of Asian mother-in-law is traditional human; they always want their offsprings’ wedding which depends too much on rites instead of creativity and simplicity.

Base 1: Unity Is there a clearly stated thesis in the introductory paragraph? Yes
Do all the supporting paragraphs back up the thesis? Yes Your comments: I like the way your lead the readers to thesis statement in the introduction. But, I see 2 conflicts in yours thesis statements. The first conflict is between your income and life. The second conflict is between your mother-in-law and you.

In Momaday’s “The Way to Rainy Mountain,” Momaday has the same structure described in Leslie Silko’s “Language and Literature from a Pueblo Indian Perspective.” Some of his story has roots from oral tradition, he takes a central subject and branches many ideas off it, like a web, and he writes informally as to show his true feelings to the reader.…

Analysis Article The writer of the article “Overprotective parents stifle growth”, Jane Brown a retired school principal, claims that parents are too protective of their children whilst the writer of “Reality Check”, Jack Lee, indicates that parents aren’t taking enough precaution with their children. The writers use different persuasive techniques to persuade their readers such as emotive writing. The tone that the writers use is pleading and the style of both pieces are simple. There is a picture placed between both articles and is used to show a similarity between the two articles. A technique used by Jane Brown is sarcasm throughout the article. She talks about how parents are trying to create “perfect” children and “protecting” them and “incidents” occurring at school, by specifically using these words the reader thinks that there really is no such thing as…

In the passage Death to high school English, written by Kim Brooks, explains the thoughts of a college professor who teaches composition, and is dealing with students who do not know how to write at all. Brooks story is told in first person, simply because she experienced it firsthand. The tone of this passage seemed to be mostly frightening because Brooks was in shock at how terrible the writing was and had to put a stop to it and make a change. Another tone that was noticeably present in the text was disbelieving. Disbelieving was definitely present because Brooks was in complete disbelief, disbelief in how students at this age and experience still do not know how to properly write. “I’ve begun to wonder if this typical high school English class, dividing its curriculum between standardized tests preparation and the reading of canonical texts, might occupy a central place in the creation of a generation of college students who, simply put, cannot write” (Brooks). Brooks writes with an annoyed tone, and a very powerful vocabulary which helps her back up her point very specifically. Also, the text left me with a very pungent question, that is of course if I am a bad writer, and if so, I should definitely start now to correct myself in every way to help my future self, and my future English teacher.…

Tone and style are two important literary devices commonly used to elicit emotions from readers. Tone is defined as the writer’s attitude towards the material and the audience. Authors create tone through use of other literary devices, such as diction, syntax, and imagery. Style is the manner in which an author chooses to write to their audience, and can reveal the author’s character and voice. A skilled writer uses a blend of specific tones and styles when writing about certain subjects, or to a certain audience. A seasoned author also considers crucial questions, such as how will an altered writing style create a given tone? Also, how will that tone influence readers? Suppose a writer is attempting to persuade his audience to avoid caffeine. He now has to consider these questions, while also choosing an appropriate tone for a given audience.…

We all have significant individuals who have impacted our lives and helped shape us as individuals. Whether it is a mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, or guardians, they have done their part. I was given an assignment that presented me with the task of reflecting on my life as an individual and seeing how I can change my perspective on certain situations that have occurred throughout my life. During my life, my family has been one of the foundations that have shaped me as the person I am today. When I received the opportunity to really reflect on my life and what gender inequalities, discrimination, and lack of healthcare I have experienced, instantly I thought about my childhood and my teenage years. My paper will discuss certain events that regard gender inequality, discrimination, and situations I faced due to lack of healthcare. Reflection on these differences will be done by using conflict, interactionist, and functionalist lens (perspective).…
